I still remember feeling a little nervous when Voyage San Antonio reached out to feature me in their Daily Inspiration series. Talking about yourself — your journey, your why, the messy and meaningful parts of being an artist — doesn't always come naturally. But I said yes, and I'm so glad I did.
The interview gave me a chance to share something I don't always slow down enough to say out loud: why I paint, what keeps me coming back to the canvas, and how growing up in South Texas shaped not just my subjects but my soul as an artist.

In the article I opened up about my love for South Texas landscapes, wildlife, and the quiet beauty that surrounds us here. I talked about the pets we love, the flowers that bloom along back roads, and the wide open skies that make this place feel like nowhere else. Those things aren't just subjects I paint — they're the reason I paint.
I also shared some of the real stuff. The challenges of being a working artist. The vulnerability of handing a finished commission to someone and hoping it captures everything they love about their pet. The joy when it does.
