The “Color Pop Series”

Art

I recently released the “Color Pop Series”. Each painting is a different flower surrounded by a different color.  These paintings can be placed individually for a single “POP” of color on your wall or all together on one wall to complete a rainbow of color and flowers.

Someone asked me how did I come up with this idea? It’s actually fairly simple. One of the styles of drawing I have been doing lately is with black liquid ink pen (a PILOT Precise V7 RT Liquid Ink Rolling Ball pen to be exact). Of course, if you know anything about me, you know I love to draw and paint flowers, and I drew several different types of flowers such as Poppies, Daisies, and some random made-up ones with just this black ink pen. After drawing a few, I thought they needed something, but at first, I did not know what that was. After a while I decided “that something” should be a sea of color. The first one I actually painted is two poppies with stems surrounded by red, kind of a side profile of the flower. It did not look quite right. The stems were throwing it all off. I wanted to completely surround the flower with color. As they say, “go back to the drawing board” …I went back… and I thought… and I thought…. and I decided that to have the look I wanted I would need to draw the flower from above, get that realistic look without thinking something is missing. Well folks, this is what I came up with! I have to say I am completely in love with how these turned out!

I have even more exciting news about this series… ok, maybe not break out the band and drop confetti but, it is exciting for me…it is up for consideration to be added to some public art collections! I should hear back by the end of January. Say a prayer, keep your fingers crossed, rub your lucky rabbit’s foot, or whatever you do for luck…do it for me!

If you want to add a “POP” of color to your life, I am offering a variety of sizes of Fine Art Prints (Framed or Unframed), Cell Phone Cases, and Throw Blankets. And as of now while I am writing this, there are still a few original paintings left. Here are just a few samples of framed prints, blankets or phone cases (sorry android, only offering Apple phone cases at this time.)

The ones shown in the first picture are the first 8 in the series, but there are more to come! I’m not sure how many I plan to do, will just have to see what inspires me and what requests I have.

There are a few that I am currently working on right now; I have an Anemone… the flower, not the sea creature, and a Peony. I know these two are a HUGE surprise…especially since I had anemones in my wedding bouquet, and I have a few peonies tattooed on my arm.

And, in case you want to know who did my wedding flowers it was Sherry at Wilson’s Floral Design in Helotes. Sherry is amazing!! I called her less than a month before my wedding in a panic because of a flower fiasco with a different florist. She listened to what I wanted and put my mind at ease in less than 24 hours. When I saw what she created for me on my wedding day it made me smile. It was perfect! I cannot thank her enough for her part in making my day better than I could have imagined! And of course, everyone always asks me who did the tattoos on my arm and what tattoo artist I recommend, well both arm tattoos were done by Cat Orozco at Faces in the Dark Tattoos in Kyle, Texas….and I recommend her 100%, she is actually the first person I recommend as a tattoo artist for color and especially flowers!!

Well, that seemed like a deviation from talking about the new paintings…so let’s get back on track…. oh wait, I guess I have said all I need to say about it! But I do want to ask you a question…. Do you have a favorite flower and favorite color you want to see? Reply with your flower/color combo in the comments below…I can create one especially with you in mind…it can be your new favorite!!
